Students will be able to design three phase motor control circuits building from the simple start-stop station.
Students will be able to wire a three phase motor starter from scratch.
Students will be able to identify all of the National Electrical Code applications to all components of three phase motor controller.
Requirements
Students should have a strong understanding of AC/DC circuit fundamentals and students should have a strong understanding of relay logic.
Description
This course is designed for electricians who would like to extend their knowledge from residential and commercial electricity to industrial motor control of three phase motors. The course covers enclosures, NEMA specifications, short-circuit protection, fuses, disconnects, coils, overload protection, line and load connections, motor control schematics and wiring diagrams, and grounding. It goes in-depth into article 430 of the National Electrical Code to include motor feeder and over current protection, motor feeder conductors, motor controller disconnecting means, motor branch circuit short circuit and ground fault protection, motor control circuits, motor controllers, motor overload protection, motor branch circuit conductors, motor thermal protection, and grounding. It help students understand when to use name plate data and when to use tables in the codebook. It also covers the tables in section 430-247, full load current in amperes in DC, single-phase AC, and three-phase motors. This course compliments the existing courses offered by this author to ensure a well-rounded background for industrial maintenance and electro-mechanical technicians including AC/DC Electricity, Relay Logic, AC Motors, Programmable Logical Controllers, Human Machine Interface, and AC Frequency Drives. All of these courses are available on Udemy and will offer a comprehensive background leading to an entry level position electrical manufacturing and maintenance.
Who this course is for
This course is designed for those either already working in the electrical field or working toward advanced study in fundamentals of three phase motor control. This is for students who have a residential or commercial electrical background and would like to move into the industrial motor control segment of the electrical industry.
