Nowadays division would be performed on a calculator. But does poking buttons on a calculator really teach you anything about mathematics? Some people believe long division is tedious because it involves repeatedly multiplying the divisor until you find a number that is equal to, or greater than than the part of the dividend that you are working on, then subtracting, and repeating that process until you have worked across the entire dividend. Because this book is not about practice in repeated multiplication, I have provided a tiny app that will do that work for you. The app and how to use it is in the back of this book.
