From the 1996 Japan tour by Page & Plant, which has already become a legend,this is the Blu-ray release of the first 3 shows at Budokan, Tokyo on February 6, 8 & 9, 1996,
upconverted from the best existing video and sound sources.
The legendary Japan tour, which attracted much attention at the time as the second coming of Zep,
had a set list that changed daily for all 10 shows of the Japan tour,
and while there have been many sound and video recordings of this truly legendary show in Japan,
this Blu-ray release is the first time that the live video footage has been captured on Blu-ray,
The live video footage was created using the video master of “THIRD EYE PRODUCTIONS,”
which has been known since the VHS era for its miraculous level as an AUD shot at the time.
The digitally remastered video version, edited by an overseas collector, was used as the base,
and then up-converted to HD quality and converted to Blu-ray format. In addition,
the audio portion was digitally remastered from soundboard-level audience sources for all three concerts.
Thus, compared to the same VHS and DVDs of the past,
the difference in quality is obvious due to the restoration process using the original footage
and live sound sources that have been re-edited to the best source. The fact that the touring band,
the Egyptian Unit, was with the band for this show only, the Japanese orchestra, and the ever-changing set,
all of which can be seen in this quality, is a miracle. Bonus footage includes backstage at Egyptian,
TV news from the time, and an acoustic version of “Stairway to Heaven,”
the only song performed on TV during the band's promotional visit to Japan in 1994,
as well as press conferences and rehearsals. A must-have item.
